I'm so happy to see this gem's atrium and skylight finally resurrected. I worked in construction from 1994 to 2000 and my field-office was on the 2nd-floor of this beauty (north-east corner overlooking Beekman & Nassau). I fell in love with this building on the first day I entered it. I was very disappointed that it was so neglected, and was haunted imagining all the untold stories this building could recall. I used to enjoy spending time on the roof and soaking in the surrounding views. Back then, the sky-light was painted-over, but I was able to pry open the original louvered windows to het my head in for a peek at some of the wonderful wrought-ironwork and the 2nd-floor's mosaic. As my work involved quite a bit of overnighting and double-shifts, I had the opportunity of sleeping there regularly, and felt honored to have the old-girl all to my self in the wee-hours. I have some stereographic photos I took of the place back in 1995...I'll have to go dig them up.
